We are in the middle of our Cricket season; I hope our community is enjoying summer weather and the sport we love. We just concluded Women and Men T10 Semi Final and Final in SM-Vecka last week in Linköping. Many congratulations to Ariana AKIF and DIF to win men and women finals respectively. Linköping CC has done wonderful arrangements as hosts. It was great atmosphere for cricket where many spirited players supported each other, and curious crowds gathered to witness matches. Onlookers were listening to on field commentary and asking questions to learn more about sport. Cricket also got long airtime on SVT as both men and women final were live streamed to their full duration.
Inauguration ceremony for Junior Premier League (JPL) was held on 4th of July in Malmö. We celebrated the youth and expressed gratitude towards Regional Squad Managers (RSMs) and their wonderful efforts with the grand opening ceremony. JPL, the flagship tournament for youth will be played between 5Th and 8th of July.
Our men and youth teams are preparing for ICC qualifier tournaments. Senior men T-20 will depart for Finland and U17 will travel to Holland on July 10th. Senior men T10 national team announced last week which will take part in ECC tournament in September. T40 regional finals also concluded, Jönköping CC (South) and DIF (North) are winner for their regions. Our cricket leagues move to more competitive T20 format which would be played across all three divisions i.e., Allsvenskan, Superettan and Division-1.
We conducted a webinar just before midsummer to speak about few burning topics of national team selection, Jonty’s resignation, league management and extra AGM consequences. Both RF and ICC has strongly reacted to frequency of extra AGMs, expressed concerns for Swedish Cricket’s organisational instability which impact their long-term investments on cricket. We are now at risk of losing our associate membership with ICC which will be very unfortunate. Our board will try to find common grounds with those who have called EAGM, to revert the possible outcome.

Preparation for events 2023
Cricket season is short, hence intense and requires most of our attention. We firmly believe that good and early planning is the key to success, therefore planning of the season 2023 is also very important to us. We have started the work and looking in the areas down blow:
• Case handling and management We are looking into a possibility to recruit resource/ resources for case handling during cricket season to provide good service to cricket associations. We will also explore the possibility to invest into case management programme, this to increase the efficiency. • League forum We will invite all clubs to work together to find a solution to umpiring challenge and even discuss the best possible format for 2023. Our goal is to get schedules ready and allocate umpiring’s duties long before season’s start.
• Educational workshops We are also looking into possibilities to organise workshops to educate coaches, umpires and help associations with information about financial help they can acquire from municipalities and RF.
• Surveys We will also look at the ways to carry out surveys to collect feedback from cricket community to make continues improvements.
